BF2142 1.25 patch released!
BF2142The BF2142 update has been released! Thanks to El Hefe for the heads up. Here's the list of changes from DICE -

The 1.25 update is here!

Greetings!

The 1.25 update is here and we wanted to say “Thank You” to all the players who visited the Beta servers and Forums to play and talk about the changes. Thanks to everyone who flew gunships, spammed APMs, and fired the SAAW at those gunships and transports so this update can continue the trend of improving the Battlefield for everyone’s enjoyment. Here is the final change list for 1.25 which will be available starting at 5pm CET / 4pm GMT / 11am EST / 8am PST:
Fixed PAC Titan geometry exploit: Players may no longer sink into the hull of the PAC titan to freely attack defenders, consoles and the core.
Fixed EU Titan geometry exploit: Players may no longer sink into the hull of the EU Titan to freely attack defenders, consoles and the core.
Fixed Squad Leader Drone bug: The spawn placement of the SL drone has been raised to prevent instances where the drone would kill the Squad Leader.
APM Tuning: The detection radius for Anti-Personnel Mines has been reduced. Players will need to walk much closer to APMs in order to set them off. The blast radius of the APM has also been decreased.
Fixed radar grenade bug: The bug which caused the radar grenade to sometimes not appear on players’ mini-map has been fixed.
Fixed Bridge at Remagen Exploit: Players will no longer be able to move inside the west facing slope on the bridge.
Moding addition: Editing for ‘Physics. AirDensityZeroAtHeight’ has been added.
Moding addition: The command ‘object.listObjectsofTemplate’ has been re-added to the rcon_invoke command list.
Improved SAAW missile tracking: The SAAW will now consistently track all airborne targets. The missiles still require visual lock to be maintained in order to seek targets.
Improved Gunship missile tracking: The Gunship missiles will now correctly track all other airborne targets. Please note that the missile behavior when fired at ground targets is unchanged
Improved Gunship Gunner Cannon: The projectile speed and damage for the gunner position cannon has been increased for both gunships.
Static AA missile tracking improvement: The EMP missiles fired from the static AA has been improved to properly track when locked on to enemy ships.
Static AA Missile lock on range decreased: The range which static AA may lock onto ships has been reduced to allow ships ‘spaces of safety’ around the maps.
Fixed Gunship and Transport Ship Active Defense: A tail section for each of these ships was not properly covered by active defense. This has been corrected to fully protect all ships. Please note that the visual effect for active defense has not changed.
Gunship TV Missile Adjustment: Damage for Gunship TV guided missiles has been slightly increased
Fixed fence exploit: Bullet deviation has been added to all fences to prevent a game play exploit. Please note that players behind fences will be more difficult to hit at medium-long ranges due to this change
Duplicate CD- Key issue: Changes to the CD key check to help prevent issues where players receive a duplicate cd-key error when joining servers.
LMG Adjustments: The Bianchi and Shuko have been normalized in their settling rates to correct a minor imbalance.
Automatic Drone adjustment: Health points for the Sentry Gun, Accipiter and Otus drones have been reduced.
Sentry Gun targeting adjustment: Sentry guns will now take slightly longer to fire on their targets. The sight range for the sentry has also been slightly reduced.
Fixed Medic Hub bug: Fixed a bug where players would occasionally receive a new medical hub immediately after it was deployed
As we begin to enjoy the warmer days here in Stockholm our sights to the coming summer and the plans to continue improving Battlefield. One event we hope to make a regular occurrence for our players is to ‘Challenge DICE’. So far we have met two excellent teams on the 2142 Battlefield. If you and 9 other friends want to take on DICE then head over to the EA forums and declare yourself!

Also keep your knife sharp as another DICE Dog Tag event is on the horizon.

    BF2142 1.10 PATCH TO BE RELEASED TOMORROW
    BF2142Yup that's right tomorrow.  Our server provider is pretty good about getting the servers updated as soon as the patch is released so get it when it hits the download sites. 

    There's a good amount of fixes and tweaks -

    BUG FIXES
    - Remove ability to resupply all unlimited ammo objects
    - No longer able to use Sentry Gun pushing player into Titan Crate collision
    - No longer able to use RDX DemoPaks drop through first section of the 3rd and 4th upper hallways of both Titans
    - Away Bonus is now used when calculating in-game promotions
    - Improved communication with GameSpy Database
    - EU Duty Ribbon/PAC Duty Ribbon awarded correctly when all criteria are fulfilled
    - “Commander score" statistic no longer resets to zero
    - Enabled tabbing to password field when using a dedicated server
    - News Tickers Speed time to display increased
    - When scrolling through the list in Multiplayer you no longer move both at the same time as the server info
    - EMP effect on Gunships reduced from 4 to 3 seconds allows the gunship to recover when throttled up at medium altitude
    - SL drone: Tweaked the acceleration on the left right aiming for the bot. It now acquires targets properly
    - Adjusted pistols: Increased ROF Clamp values, slightly reduced damage fall off over range
    - Adjusted up the damage of the HMG rounds to counter its lower RPM
    - Adjusted and/or increased entry radius points for all vehicles
    - Removed unused RangeFinder setting from EU Walker, Titan Guns to fix the APC/Railgun/FAV draw out bug
    - Fix for latency and TV guided missiles (lowered the acceleration on the missile and fixed firing lag)
    - Fixed active camouflage to no longer offset image
    - Changed default server port to 17567
    - Update to most current PunkBuster client files

    FEATURES
    - Reserved Slot Enhancement (Gives reserved slots the ability to be filled if not used)
    - Unranked Unlock Control (Option to give all first level unlocks and Enable/Disable control of all other unlock levels use)

    1.06 TITAN MODE HOTFIX PATCH RELEASED!
    BF2142EA has released the 1.06 hotfix patch to fix Titan mode crashes.

    We are going to try mixing in Titan mode but will immediately switch back to 24/7 conquest if we see any lower stability from it.

    TITAN MODE IS STILL A 'NO GO' - END OF MAP CTD'S THE NORM
    BF2142Well we thought we could add Titan mode after the patch but due to the excellent testing department at EA we're still stuck on conquest. It seems that they failed to test with the newest video drivers. Our server provider posted this response EA gave him about the issues -

    The CTD is caused by Nvidia and ATI latest drivers.

    Please delete your cache in the My DocumentsBattlefield 2142mods folder and the file icontent.cache. This may help some and NVIDIA driver version 91.31 is confirmed to run with out crashing after clearing your cache. Please roll back to version 91.31. You can download this driver here: http://download.nvidia.com/Windows/9...glish_whql.exe


    I'm sure the average user will get right on that. :P

    Hopefully they'll fix this quickly so we can finally play Titan.

    BF2142 1.05 PATCH RELEASED!
    BF2142EA has released the 1.05 patch! They've added the promised Titan mode fixes which will allow us to mix in Titan mode every other map. Here's a full list of the fixes 1.05 brings -

    * Fixed Ground Defense kills to properly count towards the Ground Base Defense Ribbon
    * Fixed an exploit with using the Air Transport to gain points at an unnatural rate
    * Fixed a issue that caused scores and ranks to be improperly displayed in the front end
    * The Silver Titan Destruction Badge will now be properly awarded when the core is destroyed
    * The PAC Duty Ribbon will no longer be awarded randomly when a player enters a server
    * Single player End of Round screen will now display round stats properly
    * Enemy Squad Leader Spawn Beacon is now visible on the 3d-map
    * Crouch may now be bound to the same key for both common use and land vehicles (Battlewalkers)
    * Fixed an issue which allowed the Titan guns to be re-supplied for points
    * Players may no longer repeatedly spam a squad leader with requests to join a locked squad
    * Accept and Reject prompts will no longer be displayed in the debug console
    * Titan Survival pin will now be correctly rewarded to players who safely escape a titan after the core is destroyed
    * Fixed the issue that prevented players from reviving team mates in a moving Titan
    * Fixed an exploit that allows players to use tanks to enter building geometry
    * Players may now play single player offline mode when EA master servers are down
    * Fixed issues with Battle Recorder Playback and Camera control
    * Fixed the issue that caused missile silos to appear in the wrong locations on players’ HUDs.
    * Fixed the issue that caused the Squad Leader Spawn Beacon to not be usable after map and round rotations.
    * Added the proper game information to the Swedish install for when a mutiny occurs against the commander
    * 2142 will no longer show up as Battlefield 2 in the Windows Firewall Exception List
    * Altered some player collision inside the Titan. This should improve many of the Player / Titan interactions
    * Adjusted the Deviation per bullet on the Assault Rifles. This will allow the AR weapons to be more effective in medium to short range fire fights.
    * Titans will stop moving once the Titan shield go down
    * Battlefield 2142 will now close after a player selects “OK” in the patch prompt.
    * Added additional support during map load to prevent EA Master Server disconnects during map load times
    * Client Version is now displayed at the Login Screen

    I hope all enjoy the new map rotation. Please give us feedback about the server in the forums.

    1.05 Patch is coming in late November. Titan mode is a go.
    BF2142EA announced that the 1.05 patch will hopefully be released late November. The big news is that they've addressed Titan movement and the associated lag. Commanders now will not be able to move the Titan once their shields are down. Hopefully they've also addressed the extreme number of server crashes Titan mode was causing. We'll just have to wait and see.

    Once the patch is released we will be going with a mixed server rotation of Titan and Conquest maps. Feel free to give us suggestions on the map rotation we should use.

    Here's the limited information about the 1.05 fixes they posted -

    The following fixes will be included, along with many others:

    * Titan will no longer be able to move once its shields are down, so that lag within the titan should be significantly reduced and revive inside the titan shouldn’t be a problem any more

    * Changes in EA master server communication to greatly reduce disconnects

    * Players are now able to receive the Titan Survival Pin

    * All players will see the same missile silo location numbers in Titan Mode.

    We've opened up our first BF2142 public server starting a new chapter here at -=CCC=-.

    It's a 48 man server currently running conquest.  We will add Titan mode once EA fixes the lag and the large amount of server crashes.

    Issue When Posting (Fix)
    Critical NoticeAnyone having problems posting, such as "You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while" appearing, please log out and log back in. This will reset the cookie from our site on your PC and should resolve the issue. Our last web host had a funky clock on the server which was way off, causing some issues in this last move.

    BF2, BF2142, and QW.

Today we're taking a look at the direction BF2 is heading, where BF2142 MAY be heading, and the most direct competition to either... namely, Quake Wars.

    First on the list: BF2 and the upcoming Point Of Existance 2 mod. This highly anticipated mod has been released for beta testing (finally!), and the news coming down the line is positive. Based on a fictional conflict between the Ukraine and Germany (to counterpoint the America-Russia conflict in the first POE), the mod revamps almost every aspect of BF2... weaponry, physics, graphics, the whole kit and kabutal. Reviews speak of weaponry that actually hits it's target (I know, I know... revolutionary thinking right there), and vehicles which are well balanced with defensive emplacements and equipment... so hopefully no more attack choppers capable of shrugging off tank rounds. A plethora of new maps (including winter maps, with new vehicle and character skins to boot), multiple ammunition types for tanks, player controlled artillery (BF:1942 and BF:V vets will know what I'm talking about... binoculars are included with some kits), and pick-up "upgrade" kits are all awaiting us in this new mod. Weighing in at over a gig and still with an unknown release date (hopefully falling somewhere between "Immediately" and "Real Soon"), POE2 looks like it may actually be worth the wait.

    Perhaps not news any more, but a little tidbit from DICE for "BF Vets"... for those of us loyal (or silly) enough to stay with the franchise even after EA did a number on it.
    "As we promised in our last newsletter, DICE is pleased to announce the details surrounding the Veterans Program — our way to reward loyal Battlefield 2 players who are planning to play Battlefield 2142. Players who have logged time with BF2 will be able to log onto the Battlefield website and reserve their Battlefield 2 name for Battlefield 2142 before lamers can squat on it.
    Veterans status will also provide players with several other items including the following: An exclusive war dance animation that you can use in-game to taunt/pwn other players, an in-game notification icon that lets other players know that you had a tour of duty in Battlefield 2, an instant promotion that will be available the first time you log onto the game.
    This will let you choose from several weapons and gadgets right off the bat—from a Herzog shotgun attachment to your assault rifle to a V5 EMP grenade available to the support class…and more."
    Awful nice sounding... of course, if it WORKS is a matter entirely up for debate.

    Lastly, Quake Wars: Enemy Territory... sadly, no news on this front (ha! I made a joke there...). Reports still point to the first quarter of 2007 for a release date... with the death of E3, perhaps sooner (since the development team won't be wastin' time trying to impress the media with anything other than actual "gameplay"... what a concept!). Of course, Activision's history with release dates is about as spotless as EA's... but hey, a guy can dream.

    Top Three BF2 Mods... an Update.

    First up, "Project Reality", being built by the nice boys over at http://www.realitymod.com/
    An ambitious attempt to bring more realism into an extremely arcade-style game, PR has recently added more toys to their expanding arsnal of death-dealing devices. The Chinese have gained the PF-89, an anti-tank rocket, while the British bombers have a total of 5 new forms of explosive ordance to rain over their enemies. The premise sounds good, the graphics look purty, and while its probably pointless to hold your breath, there is some hope that these guys may bring back that elusive balance of realistic physics and addictive gameplay that made us all love BFV and 1942 so much.

    Next, "Brickfield 2", a likely drug-induced modification which is Lego-inspired. Sadly, the website is down... we can only hope that this is a temporary situation, and not indicitive of the team throwing in the coloured blocks. Check it out yourself at http://www.brickfield-mod.com/

    On a more promising front, "Operation Peacekeeper", about the fictional conflict between the German and Serbian forces in Kosovo, seems to be steaming ahead nicely. They've recently added the J-22 "Eagle" jet to the Serbian forces, and while there are no comments on a final release date (since when have modders been that organized?), at least their site is still up at http://www.opkmod.com/.

    Lastly, no news from POE2. Our breath may be baited, but we'll simply have to wait.
